Martock staff hit Yeovil where despite
appearing to be about to tuck into a multicoloured hedgehog. Lindsey is
actually blowing out candles on her 21st Birthday cake!

Robin Carpenter delivered triplets recently. While triplets
are seen from time to time, it is very unusual for all to be born alive.
They are photographed here a few days later by Phil Boyer whilst he was
checking them over.

Nurses throughout the Practice have had considerable success this
summer. Donna March has finished her VN training, while Shani
Palmer and Anne Willson have successfully completed their first
year. Donna, Rebecca Bailey and Marion Singleton have
all qualified as Assessors for the monitoring of this NVQ course.

Tim Udall
was awarded an OBE
in the New Years Honours List for services to the meat industry. Tim joined
the MHS at its inception having gained qualifications in Red and White
Meat Hygiene . He subsequently became one of a small band to gain
a Certificate in Veterinary Public Health, and became a Principle
Official Veterinary Surgeon for the MHS, responsible for the South and
South West of England. He has now taken on the role of supervising the
training of all vets employed by the MHS. He has also recently received
a Royal College Trust Fund grant to study the Meat Hygiene services in
several other countries.
Tim was a partner with Kingfisher Vet Practice from 1972 until 1999.
Congratulations to Tim for a well deserved recognition.

Elizabeth Barathy, receptionist at the Chard Surgery
became the first successful candidate in the UK for the new Vocational Training BTEC Award in Veterinary Practice
Client Care.
Beth was presented with a bottle
of Champagne by Vetlink who provided her training and Pedigree Masterfoods
who support the national program. Congratulations to Beth for her forward
thinking and hard work.

Crewkerne Lions Swimathon
Kingfisher Vets again entered a successful
team in this regular event. With numbers made up by Foz (Anne's husband)
and Alastair Boyer deputising for his dad, the team swam well over 100
lengths of Crewkerne pool (25m) in their 50 minutes, and raised over £300
for local good causes. Thanks to those who participated and those who
sponsored.

Orchard FM have made 'cake
drops' to Crewkerne and Martock Surgeries over
the last two months. Crewkerne received theirs in December.

Martock surgery is already the holder
of an Orchard FM
'Best in the West' award given to local businesses
upon nomination by clients, so this new recognition of the hard work by
staff is the icing on the cake.
